What is Pink Lotus Yoga?
Pink Lotus Yoga is Yoga For Breast Cancer Survivors, taught by Lauren Cahn in NYC.
Lauren Cahn is a certified yoga instructor in New York City, having received her 200 hours teaching certification from Om Yoga Center in New York City in 2004. A former marathon runner, figure-skater, long-distance bike-rider, practicing corporate attorney and generally type-A personality, Lauren practiced yoga, somewhat inconsistently, for many years until she truly discovered yoga's amazing gifts...while in the midst of chemotherapy: Lauren has been a breast cancer survivor since being diagnosed in 2002 at the age of 36.
Ever since dragging herself to yoga immediately after each chemo treatment and experiencing its incredible cleansing, de-toxifying, strength and flexibility-building benefits, Lauren has been hooked on yoga and has maintained a daily practice for more than three years.
Yoga helped and continues to help Lauren feel strong, supple and connected with her own body (even after a double mastectomy with reconstruction (including several revisions), six months of chemo, a year of herceptin, six weeks of radiation, bilateral oophorectomy and a lifetime supply of Arimidex, not in any particular order). So much so, in fact, that Lauren has dedicated herself to bringing the benefits of yoga to breast cancer survivors.
Lauren teaches yoga to students of all ages, levels and abilities, at yoga studios, gyms, community centers, clubs and corporations, but it is her students who are breast cancer survivors who truly capture her heart and inspire her. She considers them, along with her two sons, to be amongst her most influential teachers.
